Information Collection & Use
Intervac International is the sole owner of the information collected on IntervacUS.com, IntervacUSA.com Intervac.com and Intervac-online.com (our sites). Intervac collects personally identifiable information from our users at several different points on our Web site to primarily facilitate home exchange, youth exchange, hospitality exchange and vacation rental transactions.
Orders If you purchase a product or service from us, we request certain personally identifiable information from you on our order form. You must provide contact information (such as name, email, and mailing address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date). We use this information for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we will use this information to contact you. When registering, users will receive e-mails with instructions on how to activate their listing information and what their membership information is.
Uses of Information
Intervac never shares a member's credit card information nor publishes it. All credit card information is handled securely through Verisign Corp. or Authorize.net Corp., a secure payment provider Listing information provided in a member's profile such as name, mailing address, e-mail address, home amenities, family dynamics and travel desires is published on our site and/or in our printed catalogues. All members will be able to see all of this information and use it to contact other members directly. Non-members will be able to see all of this information except for a members' name and contact information. Since 1953, Intervac has promoted an open community of home exchangers. The listing information members provide on the listing page profile is deemed to be in the public domain in order to allow other home exchangers to learn about and contact potential partners. While we will do our best to ensure that the information on the listing page is not reproduced or abused by unscrupulous members, there are no guarantees that your listing information won't show up on another web site or be used to send unwanted messages to you. Therefore if you are not happy with your details being made public, do not post a listing on Intervac. Intervac addresses this further in its Terms of Use. Intervac does not sell or rent any specific or aggregate member information to third parties.
Communications from the Site
Special Offers and Updates
We will occasionally send you information on products, services, special deals and promotions. Out of respect for your privacy, we present non-members with the option not to receive these types of communications.
Newsletters
If you wish to subscribe to our newsletter, we will use your name and email address to send the newsletter to you. Out of respect for your privacy, we provide non-members a way to unsubscribe.
Service-related Announcements We will send you strictly service-related announcements on rare occasions when it is necessary to do so. For instance, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance, we might send you an email. Generally, you may not opt-out of these communications, which are not promotional in nature. If you do not wish to receive them, you have the option to deactivate your account.
Customer Service
Based upon the personally identifiable information you provide us, we will send you a welcoming email to verify your username and password. We will also communicate with you in response to your inquiries, to provide the services you request, and to manage your account. We will communicate with you by email or telephone, in accordance with your wishes.
Profile
We do not store information that we collect through log files, clear gifs, to create a profile of your preferences. We do not tie your personally identifiable information, or your purchasing history, to information in the profile, in order to provide tailored promotions and marketing offers and to improve the content of the site for you.
Supplementation of Information
In order to provide home, hospitality and youth exchange and vacation rental services to you, we may on occasion supplement the personal information you submitted to us with information from third party sources.
ID and Address Verification
We may use third party software to verify your identity and address in order to ensure that our members provide accurate billing and listing information. This is important to prevent credit card fraud and to ensure that someone actually owns the home exchange property of vacation rental that they claim to. These measures will not ensure that the information contained on our web sites is accurate.

Choice/Opt-out
If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications, you may opt-out of receiving them after your membership expires by following the instructions included in each newsletter or communication or by contacting us at the contact information listed below. We don't allow current members to opt-out of our newsletter communications because we might need to send vital information such as changes in our privacy policy or instructions on how to use a new security feature on our web sites.
Log Files
As is true of most Web sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track users’ movements around the site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We do not link this automatically-collected data to personally identifiable information.

A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser. We do not use persistent cookies, which remain on your hard drive for an extended period of time. Access to Personally Identifiable Information
If your personally identifiable information changes, or if you no longer desire our service, you may correct, update, delete or deactivate it by making the change on our member information page or by reaching us at the contact information listed below. You are responsible for all actions taken with your User ID and password, including changes to your listing page and communication with other member. Therefore, we do not permit you to disclose your Intervac password to any third parties. If you choose to share your User ID and password or your personal information with third parties, your membership will be terminated and you will be held responsible for all actions taken with your account. If you lose control of your password, you may lose substantial control over your personal information and may be subject to legally binding actions taken on your behalf. Therefore, if your password has been compromised for any reason, you should immediately change your password as detailed below and inform us at the contact information listed below. We offer you the ability to automatically review and change the information you submit to us by logging into the site and entering in the new information yourself. Generally, we will not modify your personal information based on your request because it is very difficult to authenticate your account manually. You can change your user ID, email address, contact information, financial information, shipping information and user preferences by logging in by clicking on MEMBER LOGIN at Intervac.com. If you've lost your password, click on Member Login at Intervac.com then click on My Membership is Valid- I wish to Login.
By following the prompts, you can modify your password. Upon your request, we will deactivate and/or delete your account, contact information, billing information, shipping information, and financial information from our active databases. To make this request, email info@intervacus.com. Such information will be deactivated as soon as reasonably possible and in accordance with our deactivation policy and applicable law. All of your personal information will be completely removed from our databases in response to your requests.
Security
The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card number) on our registration or order forms, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). Your information is stored on Intervac's servers located in Germany and/or the United States. We use procedural and technical safeguards to protect your personal information against loss or theft as well as unauthorized access and disclosure to protect your privacy, including encryption, "firewalls" and Secure Socket Layers. We treat data as an asset that must be protected against loss and unauthorized access. We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. We cannot ensure that all of your private communications and other personal information will never be disclosed in ways not otherwise described in this Privacy Policy. By way of example (without limiting the foregoing), we may be forced to disclose personal information to the government or third parties under certain circumstances, third parties may unlawfully intercept or access transmissions or private communications, or users may abuse or misuse your personal information that they collect from the Site. Business Transitions
